Hello everyone!
We are only 4 days away from Katsucon! I am super excited as I hope you all are as well. This is a reminder that we will be meeting in the Morton Hall parking lot at 5am Friday morning. Yes, 5am. If you are not there by 5:45am you will be left behind as we need to leave by then in order to make it to National Harbor by hopefully 1pm. The car ride will be around 7-8 hours depending on how many stops we make so make sure you bring something to do during this time. Books, 3DS's, music, or anything else is welcome. There will be music played in the cars as well though for fun and also for our drivers. Once we are there we will check into our hotel rooms and you will be free to go off and get your badges for the weekend.
The exact time we will be leaving on Sunday is still up in the air. The con itself ends at 3pm so it will be sometime before then. Communicate with the people in your van if you have a panel you want to see later in the day on Sunday so we can work out an exact time to leave. Plan on being back in Athens by midnight at the latest.
If you have any questions regarding the convention please contact one of the board members or ask us during the meeting tomorrow.
One other reminder is that we will be having a make up showing for the one we missed due to the snow. This will be the first Saturday after spring break on March 5th. We will also have a Friday showing that week which means two days of showing. The showing on March 5th will start at around noon.
That's all for now! I hope those of you who are going to Katsucon are excited! I hope that everyone else has an enjoyable weekend.

Apologies for Lack of Updates.
Greetings friends.
I would like to apologize for the lack of updates - it has been brought to my attention that we were having issues with update posts going through. I believe the problem has been fixed, now, so expect more updates about the club in the following weeks.
Have a great Tuesday!

Welcome to a New Year!
Hello all!
I hope your first few days of classes have been good so far! Today was our first meeting of the year and while I had to leave due to health issues, I heard that everything went really well. A few things to go over from what was discussed at today's meeting:
Conventions!
Reminder that the deadline for the $60 badge price for Katsucon as well as the $40 badge price for Ohayocon is the 31st of August. If we have 10 people sign up for Katsucon then we will get $5 off each badge! Make sure to communicate to our Treasurer Halee about payments. She will be at our showing this Friday for you to pay for your badge. As for hotel fees, you do not have to worry about that right now as we will pay it closer to the date of the actual convention.
Introductions!
Today we met all of the board members. I hope to see everyone back next week for member introductions! If you cannot make it to next week's meeting, don't worry about it. You can always introduce yourself whenever you are able to come.
Grab Bag Results!
Now this is probably what you actually want. We had a few ties, so for this Friday we will have 14 shows instead of 13. Here they are:
Angel Beats
Ghost Stories
Parasyte
Baccano!
Tokyo Ghoul
Oran Higschool Host Club
Bartender!
Soul Eater
Kids on the Slope
Gatchaman
Shinsekai Yori
Blue Exosist
Haikyuu!!
Rokka no Yuusha
Remember to show up on Friday to vote for what actually will be shown in the showings for the rest of the semester!
That's all for now!

Bake Sale Planning
Happy Monday everyone!!
Tomorrow we will discuss things more in depth but for now I would like to post a quick update while my brain is on the topic - otherwise I will later lose my mind and not know what to do with myself. It's that kind of day. So.
Hannah and I took a quick trip to Nelson Market on South Green and picked up four boxes of cake mix. Two boxes of yellow and two boxes of devil's food. That makes about 100 cupcakes (assuming to boxes make 24 cupcakes each). I have been digging through Pinterest to find other recipes to try out - and goodness, was that a mistake. There are so many cupcakes on Pinterest.
I have plans to go to Kroger and/or Walmart later this week and pick up Angel Food cake mix, whipped cream, and chocolate, then close to the 11th I will pick up a batch of strawberries that can be chopped up and placed on top. Those should be a popular fix!
If anyone is wanting to help by donating food items or baking items like sugar, eggs, etc. to help out with the cause, they would be greatly appreciated - just send me a message on Facebook or ask a member of club for my personal contact information and contact me that way. We can work something out!
And finally, Walter has given us the OK to use his kitchen as our own personal bakery so I was hoping to do some baking on Thursday and Friday the 9th and 10th, and then we can do the full on bake sale Saturday, the 11th.
See everyone tomorrow!

Fundraising Part 2
Hello all! I hope everyone is having a much better week than I am! Tuesday we discussed one major thing and that was fundraising. Since we seem to be making more and more trips out of town (this semester we even went out of state!) we have discussed and are working to set up a second bake sale this year.
The weekend of April 11 is Mom's weekend. Considering the weekend is an OU student favorite we believe that having a bake sale should be a great idea to raise a decent amount of money! So if you have extra flex points leftover at the end of the next few weeks and want to help out, donations of cake mix, cookie dough, frosting and any other item that can help with baked goods would be much appreciated.
The initial baking will take place either Thursday or Friday the day before we all set up shop and begin selling our baked goods. I have already requested using my boyfriend - Walter's - kitchen to bake items and he has given us the thumbs up. So all who wish to help bake items are welcome to come out to his place with me and bake some lovely items.
I can supply a table and potentially a tent depending on where we decide to set up shop. Since we plan to work on a Saturday (which is the 11 of April) it may be possible we can set up a table right outside the back door at my work (College Book Store). When all the details have been set up, an update will be posted here to the blog and on the Facebook!
Cheers!

Next year, the board will look like this:

I look forward to having a fun year as President next year. Next month I will pass on the Scribe/PR torch to Ali and show her the ropes of updating you all on our actions!

Upcoming Tuesday (3/10/15) Meeting Happenings
Greetings fellow anime lovers and otaku alike! I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break despite getting nearly a foot of snow (if you live in southern Ohio, eastern Kentucky, etc). We start classes again tomorrow and have a meeting this coming Tuesday. We have a few things going on that are very important this Tuesday so here's a quick rundown of what will take place.
Board/Officer Elections
Tuesday we will hold our elections for the 2015-2016 board members. A glimpse at who is running is as follows.
PRESIDENT:
~ Maddie Stricklin
~ Halee Smith
VICE PRESIDENT:
~ Tristan Wayne
TREASURER:
~ Jacob Jones
~ Halee Smith
SCRIBE/PUBLIC RELATIONS:
~ Ali Smith
~ Sarah Reichart
WEB MASTER:
~ Hannah Yinger
Voting will take place among paid members and alumni of the club during the meeting time after each rep has made their presentations. Best of luck to everyone.
Convention and Trip Refunds.
Jimmy has gotten the paperwork done from the two conventions and has hashed out who is getting what money back for the three trips we have taken this semester. If you drove to Sushiko and/or Ohayocon and attended Katsucon with us (in the van) then talk to Jimmy about getting your refund back.
Usual Shenanigans.
With events coming up through the University and other events that we have planned, we will ensue with our usual obnoxiousness and discuss what our plans for the second half of the semester include. Events include a possible fundraiser for Mom's Weekend next month [April], a second Saturday Showing, an end of the semester/year study party the weekend before finals week and a few others.
I hope everyone sleeps well tonight and gets to class without too many hiccups tomorrow morning. I know I'll have trouble getting up at my usual 7:30 am rather than closer to 10/11 am or some strange time in the afternoon. See everyone Tuesday!!

Spring Semester 2015: Friday Schedule, Room Change & More
Happy Tuesday, Everyone! Welcome to Week 2 with us at Ohio University! There's a few updates to go over officially, so let's catch up!
To start with, due to an issue with another club we have moved our Tuesday Meetings into Ellis room #119. Go up a floor and it's in the middle of the left hallway (if you come in the front doors facing South Green). Our Friday Showings have moved to Morton 201 again with a few exceptions on a few dates. Once everything has been settled for those days there will be an update on the Facebook and here on the blog.
Secondly, the schedule for the Friday showings will show the anime as follows:

Restaurant Trip Update
Hello everyone!
As previous updates have explained, on November 22 we will be making a trip to Columbus to eat at Sushiko. Our reservation is for 26 people at 12:30 pm.
On Facebook, we have a document that will allow you to put yourself in a car for the trip. Departure times will depend on the driver of said vehicle. If you do not put yourself in a car then you will not be given a ride - it is your responsibility.
On that note. I have contacted the manager of the restaurant personally and we have discussed the terms of having a large group in his establishment. He has asked that we pay by table and not per person - this is simply a convenience factor for their business. So I ask that everyone bring cash to pay for their meals or work out payment with those you plan on sitting with (someone pays with their card and others pay said person back, etc. This entirely depends on the people you will be sitting with).
And secondly, the manager has also given me his personal email and has requested we send in everyone's orders to him the day before so they can prepare things shortly before everyone's arrival. I will open up a document on the facebook for everyone to access and record their required amount of raw fish and tempura and soup.
I can't wait for the day to get here when we get together! See everyone soon!

Restaurant Trip, T-shirts and Halloween.
Good afternoon my friendly geeks, gamers and otakus.
Yesterday we had a small and quick meeting and the updates - much as the title explains - are few, but important.
Restaurant Trip
We will be heading to Sushiko in Columbus, OH on November 22 for lunch. This is a Saturday and it is the weekend before Thanksgiving Break with Ohio University. If you have an interest in going with us, we ask that you fill out your information on the Google Doc that was shared on the Facebook Page (just search JMAGE and you'll find us) by November 4. I will be making the reservation the day after so exceptions will not be made.
Due to the large amount of people going, we are working out the driving situation. When we have everything worked out, we will send out an update.
Club T-Shirts
Another Google Doc will be made for people to put down their names and shirt sizes if people want a club T-shirt. The image that we use as our profile photo on Google+ is the image that will appear on the shirt - and of course, the shirts will be green.
If 30+ people want a T-shirt, they will run $10 a person. If 42 (I'm about 75% sure of that number, ask Jimmy for a better idea) people sign up we get cheaper shirts.
Halloween
Yes, it's October. Yes, it is Pumpkin-spice-you-name-it-we-make-it season too. And YES. We will be having a small Halloween get together. On November 1, we will reserve a room where we can congregate (most likely in Morton, but I have to see what is available before I give an exact location) and carve pumpkins, play some horror games and maybe watch a movie. Also: bring cosplay! Dress up! There is a high possibility some club alumnus will be attending and they take professional photos, so if you want some [free] photography of your cosplay, now is the time to get it!
Later this month we will nominate some movies and decide what will be watched. We will also decide how many hours we want to make this (the original plan is to hang out for 3, maybe 4, hours) and have a location for this get together.
See everyone tomorrow at the showing!

Fundraiser and Saturday Showing!
Good afternoon everyone! PR here again with some more updates for you!
This Saturday the 20th we will be holding 2 events.
First is the Fundraiser, which will be a Bake Sale at the Alumni Gateway across the street from either of the bookstores on Court Street. Set up will be at 9:30 am, the event will happen between 10 am and 1:30 pm at the latest. We are planning to make grilled cheese, PB&Js, vegan brownies and we will be serving cold beverages like Orange Juice and Cider. There are also possibilities of pumpkin spice muffins, french toast and other baked breakfast items.
If anyone needs to make a trip to Kroger for supplies they wish to donate to this event I - Maddie - will be giving rides tomorrow [Friday] during dinner break which has been extended to an hour to allow time for this trip. I have room for 2-3 more people if a trip needs to be made. Samantha and Ali have offered their rental house's kitchen on Walker Street for use to do baking if it is needed and Fajer has offered her kitchen to any girls who would like to join her and Bailey in her house at River Park. Please contact them (or me) if you need to "borrow" a kitchen.
Second is the Retro Gaming Saturday Showing! In early celebration of Nintendo's 125th Anniversary (and early celebration of my and Ryan B's birthdays which fall on the same day as Nintendo's actual anniversary) we will be hosting a get together in Morton 218 and 219 from 6 pm throughout the early morning hours. The room has been reserved for 5:30 so set up for any big events can happen if necessary.
At this even we will have WiiU and Wii games, SNES/NES games, GameCube games, 90's anime, Jeopardy, Karaoke, Cosplay contest and "Horrible Fanfiction" for those who wish to stick around and check that out. We hope to see everyone there!
If you have any questions please feel free to contact me or any other board members! We're more than happy to help you out!
It's almost Friday so hang in there friends!

-Whether you can be a driver, meaning you can drive and have a vehicle TO drive. (If you can be a
driver, put how many passengers, meaning people in addition to the driver, can fit.)*
*Remember that for the cons, we're looking at people AND luggage, so you should probably be able to fit more in for the restaurant trip.
This is to help the board figure out numbers and transportation for all the fun things we want to do, as well as getting an email list so we can make sure to contact people about events relevant to them. Preferably put your legal name on the list, since I will most likely be using those to help register for cons and it can run into issues if you are registered under a different name. Also make sure you don't delete anyone else's name, that's extremely rude and immature and you wouldn't want someone to do it to you.

Urgent Ohayocon Update
So the Treasurer went on a small errand to double check the dates that all funding was due and came to find that the Ohayocon webpage had made a rather large typo they had missed for the last few months - the badge fee is actually due September 15, not October 15. So, now that they have fixed it, we must fix our own thing.
Due to the application date being September 15 and not October 15: if you plan on going to Ohayocon 2015 with us, your badge fee ($40) is due on one of the following days: Friday September 5, Tuesday September 9 or Friday September 12. The money is due to Jimmy - or if he is not available at a Friday showing, you may give it to another board member to give to him.
With that being said, please turn in your money as soon as you can so we can get you the cheapest rate possible.
Enjoy your Friday!

An Update about the Grab Bag Showing.
Hello everyone! Sorry for the double update today. We have encountered a slightly error in the Grab Bag list.
Unfortunately, Saint Young Men does not have an anime series. So it must be struck from the Grab Bag title list.
To replace it is the next thing on the list. With a total of 17 votes, Samurai Flamenco will be added into the empty slot to put us back at 11 for the Friday Showing.
Sorry for the inconvenience and enjoy the rest of your afternoon!

Welcome to JMAGE! (Meeting 1 details)
Greetings my fellow anime lovers, manga readers and gamers alike! This is your PR Officer, Maddie. For those of you who are new, I do keep updated notes here on the blog after every Tuesday meeting and keep an updated list of the episode count every Friday. So if you missed a meeting, this is where you will find all of our minutes.
Starting off, JMAGE is happy to announce we welcomed over 50 members yesterday at our first meeting of the Semester. As claimed, this turn out of students is better than the turn out we had last year! Every one mingled and had an enjoyable time before the meeting.
Our officers were introduced to the crowd and the unveiling of the numerous events we attend and supply. This year we will be attending Ohayocon in Columbus, Ohio, and attempting to attend Katsucon in Washington D.C., Maryland. The deadlines for both are in October - Ohayocon is $40 for registration and $60 (of $65 depending on the Hyatt's fees this year) and Katsucon is $50 for registration and is $140 for hotel fees. If you wish to attend these your membership fee of $20 must be paid prior to or at the time of registration/hotel payments. This membership fee will pay for the gas your driver will use to take you to said conventions.
Finally, all members in attendance at the Tuesday meeting were given the chance to vote on a collection of 35 different titles of anime to elect 11 to be thrown into the Grab Bag Showing we will have this Friday. In order, those titles are as follows...

Remember that one must show up to Morton 201 to be able to vote.
At Roundtable...
Gary Grant discussed Dagorhir and Humans vs. Zombies during roundtable. If you are interested in either of these things, contact him through Facebook or find him at a club event and he will gladly talk to you about these events happening around Athens.
Alex Schmitz - a member of TechHeads here at Ohio University - runs an Anime Podcast and has offered a possible chance of joining him and the TH group to do writing and podcast and such if interested. He, too, can be contacted on Facebook or at club events.
Kyle Driscoll runs a DnD (Dungeons and Dragons) club this year and has offered the ability to join the club. He attends many of our events and can be contacted that way and also through Facebook.
Enjoy your first week with Ohio University and we hope to see everyone in Morton Hall this Friday!

Some things to keep in mind this week before our first meeting!

Some things to keep in mind this week before our first meeting!
- Remember that we will be attending Katsucon and Ohayocon this year. Katsu will be a pre-registration price of $50 if we can get 10 or more of our members to register as a group by September 30. If you plan on attending, please continue saving money so that you can join us.
- Some negative news, our Vice President is no longer with us. He isn’t dead, but he no longer holds his executive board position. The remaining board officers will be splitting his responsibilities among themselves until further notice. We may end up changing this arrangement, but this is what we are doing for now.

New Content!
A new page has been added that contains the JMAGE club constitution in its entirety. For anyone wanting to see just how we run things and what our backbone actually looks like, it is now there to be examined.
The original document will be available for download soon via a link on the Constitution page.
